Biography

David Holloway is a New York City based horn player who enjoys breaking the boundaries of traditional classical performance. As a chamber musician David makes up one half of the Art Nouveau horn and harp duo whose passion it is to showcase new music and original arrangements written for harp and horn. In 2025 David was selected as a part of a woodwind quintet to represent Indiana University at the Tianjin Juilliard School Orchestral Symposium. This event featured chamber groups from leading music schools around the world and culminated in a one of a kind orchestra concert led by David Robertson. David was also a 2026 fellow of the Sarasota Music Festival. While collaborating with fellow artists is his primary focus, David also enjoys showcasing the horn as a solo voice.

In 2026 David was the recipient of the prestigious performers certificate for his graduate recital at Indiana University. This recital featured a performance of Persichetti’s Parable for Solo Horn accompanied by dancers, along with piano pieces by Connor Chee which David arranged for harp and horn. In 2025 David won the brass concerto competition at Indiana University performing Elizabeth Raum’s 1996 concerto, Sherwood Legend.

As an orchestral player, David has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra as a part of the Kent Blossom Music festival in 2024, and is a substitute member of the New World Symphony. He was also an Orchestra Next fellow in 2023 and 2024, and a student at the Aspen Music Festival in 2026.

David holds a Bachelors degree and Performers Diploma in Horn Performance from Indiana University and is a graduate of the Juilliard Pre College Program. His primary teachers have included Richard Seraphinoff, Denise Tryon, Dale Clevenger, and Brad Gemeinhardt. He is currently a student of Kevin Newton at the Manhattan School of Music’s Contemporary Performance Program.
